Charmain is a clinically trained psychologist based in North Queensland, Australia. She is the Director of Townsville Perinatal Psychology and has over 20 years’ experience working with children and families in educational and therapeutic rolls in both the public and private sectors.
Charmain has a particular interest in Perinatal and Infant Mental health completing her Doctoral thesis in this area. Her thesis explored the enhancement of reflective functioning in new parents and the role this plays in the development of secure attachment. Over the past decade Charmain has pursued and been involved in a range of specific training in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health with a focus on psychodynamic and relational frames.
Charmain has a warm, caring and non-judgemental approach to supervision, providing a safe and supportive environment for her supervisees to explore both their own and their clients’ experiences of therapy. Charmain takes a reflective practice approach, informed with attachment and developmental frameworks. Consideration and curiosity is given to the relationships both in the room and in the client’s wider context.
Charmain offers supervision via video conferencing (Zoom) appointments and is an AHPRA Board Approved Supervisor and Registrar Program Supervisor for Clinical Psychology.
